Wholesale power prices fell in most states

Wholesale electricity prices increased slightly in Queensland and New South Wales in the last quarter, new data shows.

But prices fell in Victoria and South Australia, and substantially declined in Tasmania due to more hydropower and a fixed electricity interconnector, the Australian Energy Market Operator’s latest quarterly market report found.

Overall, quarterly emissions from the east coast’s National Electricity Market were at their lowest on record while the output from renewable energy was at its highest ever level.
